Last night was a bit cold, we think the last couple of nights at the hotels have made us soft! After a quick breakfast of bacon sandwiches, we broke camp and headed into the center of Munich to visit the local dealer. They very kindly gave our vehicles the once over just to check fluid levels and tyres etc. This also gave us the chance to use their fax machine and send a few notes home.
The dealership (like many we've visited so far) reports that their biggest selling vehicle is the Range Rover Sport, and that they also have a regular trade in Defenders which they can rely on as a steady figure. We also had a quick snack of pretzels before we left – great thanks guys! Unfortunately we had released the day before that we were having some problems with our webcam and we spent the rest of the morning heading to an computer hardware store and trying to fix the problems. This lost us quite a bit of time which was a shame. We've bought a new camera to try so we'll see how it goes.
We spent the rest of the day traveling to Prague – it's a good drive from Munich and we didn't arrive there until about 8:30ish. We had arranged to meet Martin Koráb from A.M.T Group a.s. at some services on the outskirts of Prague, and for him to lead us into the city (probably a good idea – convoy driving in city you don't know is very hard and it's easy to get split up). Chris jumped into Martin's Freelander with a hand held radio and we then had a quick whistlestop 'by car' tour of the city (on your left you have.....).
The city looks lovely, lots of old very ornate buildings including a castle. There's also a river running though the city with some lovely old bridges – probably even nicer in the dusk with the lights along it. We hopped out of the car at one point just before the last light faded and walked a quick five minutes to a vantage point – from there we could see over most of the city.
We then made our way to our hostel for the night – many thanks to Martin for helping us book it. It's in the city center and parking (and security) was a concern, but Martin had had kindly offered not only to store the cars for us at his secure compound, but also to ferry us back to the hostel and some taxis for the next day to get out of town to the compound – very much appreciated!
We've struggled a little for food today – service stations and the best we've found for tea at 10:30pm is a McDonald's. Hopefully we'll find some real food tomorrow - we did do a supermarket stop earlier in the week but we're expecting to need our supplies tomorrow night as we'll be camping in Poland. There was however time for a quick beer before bed – although we're not sure what to make of Tony and Gary's choice of bar – we didn't realise they were that way inclined!
